PikMyKid, Tampa Bay Innovation Center Client, Receives Funding

February 24, 2015
By Tampa Bay Innovation Center

PikMyKid, provider of a comprehensive end-to- end solution for the entire student dismissal process, has closed a partial round of funding that will augment product development and build a support team to roll the product out to multiple schools.  The company is a client at Tampa Bay Innovation Center’s TEC Garage.

“Typically, the first investor is the most difficult to find and now that we have that investment, we have received verbal commitments from several angel investors and several large VCs to subscribe to the balance of the round and to Series A funding down the road,” says Saravana Pat Bhava, PikMyKid founder and CEO.   “We are grateful to the Innovation Center staff for their guidance and connections.”

Bhava, a serial entrepreneur, notes that the current investment was from a seasoned local tech investor who is also a charter member of TiE Tampa Bay, a network of investors whose local founding chairman is Dr. Kiran Patel.  Ashok Kartham is president of TiE Tampa Bay.

Since receiving the initial funding, Bhava has signed a partnership with Clever.com, a service that provides schools with instant login to all the learning applications students and teachers use.  This relationship provides PikMyKid with access to rollout in more than 30,000 schools, which Bhava expects in Q2 of 2015.

“Pat and PikMyKid are a real success story,” says Tonya Elmore, president of Tampa Bay Innovation Center.  “He has built on his past experience and successfully leveraged that with his contacts and a smart business concept.  We look forward to supporting his future growth.”
